MOUNT VERNON — Simon Taylor, a 2013 Patrick Henry High School graduate, has been named the head men’s and women’s cross country coach at Mount Vernon Nazarene University. Taylor served as Mount Vernon’s assistant cross country coach the past two years.

Taylor will also serve as an assistant coach for the Mount Vernon track and field program.

Taylor was a member of Mount Vernon’s cross country team from the 2013 to 2017 calendar years and was also a member of the track team during that span.

Taylor is the son of Thomas and Lynette Taylor of Deshler.

“I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve as the head cross country coach at MVNU,” Taylor said. “I would like to thank (Director of Athletics) Chip Wilson for not only entrusting me with this team, but also being an outstanding role model for me both as an athlete and coach. The men’s and women’s cross country teams are filled with outstanding individuals and I am looking forward to continuing to work with all of them.”
