TACOMA, Wash. — Jon Niese pitched 5.2 innings of no-hit ball for the Tacoma Rainiers (Triple-A) on Saturday night before a blown save took a decision away from the former DHS star in a 6-1 loss to the El Paso Chihuahas.

Niese, a former Defiance High School and New York Mets’ pitcher, allowed just one hit in six frames, striking out one while walking three. The former Met and Pirate and current Seattle Mariners’ farmhand is 3-2 in 10 starts for Tacoma with 27 mstrikeouts and a 4.47 ERA in 54.1 innings pitched.
