TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — The Napoleon River Bandits picked up a 5-3 win over Tupelo (Miss.) Legion on Saturday to propel the team into the elimination bracket of the John Hayes Legion Tournament on Sunday, where the Bandits fell to host Terre Haute Post 346, 6-5.

On Saturday, Napoleon (14-8) bounced back from a 3-0 hole through three innings with a four-run fourth that powered the Bandits to the victory.

Axel Shanks (Patrick Henry) ripped three base knocks for Napoleon as six players reached the hit column.

Against Terre Haute, Napoleon fell 6-5 in a back-and-forth game shortened to six innings by a time limit.

Landon Willeman (Napoleon) and Caleb Frank (Fairview) each had a pair of base hits in the setback.

The Bandits will play host to Van Wert on Tuesday at Defiance College’s Rutter Field at 6 p.m. before embarking on their annual trip to Alaska from June 28-July 7.
