KENAI, AK — The Napoleon River Bandits finished second in the Bill Miller Big Fish Tournament despite tying Rhode Island in the championship game, 9-9 in 11 innings on Thursday.

Since Rhode Island scored last, in the bottom of the 11th, the game was called a tie and it was awarded the championship.

The Bandits also scored three runs in the top of the 11th which ultimately led to Rhode Island answering right back.

Zac Brickel went 4-for 5 on the day for Napoleon with three singles, a double and four RBIs while Hunter Bostater hit a single and a double.

On Wednesday, the Bandits advanced to the championship contest after defeating Kenai, 9-3.

Dakota Benner twirled a gem from the mound allowing two runs on five hits in six innings with five strikeouts.

Austin Bostater led the Bandits with a single and a double.

Late Tuesday, Napoleon rallied for seven runs in the top of the sixth to defeat Eagle River, 9-6 in pool play.

Daryke Bass earned the victory in two innings of relief allowing two hits and no runs.

Austin Lichty had 2 singles for the Bandits while Dakota Benner laced a double and drove in three.

Napoleon returns to action today at 11 a.m. against Wasilla.
