HICKSVILLE — Russell Junior Hinsch, 86, Hicksville, Ohio, died Wednesday, May 22, 2019, at Community Health Professionals Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center, Defiance, Ohio.
Born on December 12, 1932, in Hicksville, Russ was the son of the late Russell and Doris (Slessman) Hinsch. Russ was a 1950 graduate of Hicksville High School. On November 14, 1952, Russ was united in marriage to Dorothy Tomlinson, and she survives. Russ served his county in the United States Army from 1953-55. He retired from International Harvester after 36 years, and drove for NemcoMed for 16 years. He was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Hicksville, where he was an usher and served on the church council for 18 years. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 223. He was an OSU football fan and love participating in class reunions.
Russ also is survived by his children, Deb Jacobson, Bryant (Valinda) Hinsch and Gordon (Linda) Hinsch; grandchildren, Sarah (Will) Vith, Nicholas (Rachel) Hinsch, Christopher, Corey (Alyana) and Curtis Hinsch; great-granddaughter, Quin Hinsch; and siblings, Gerald Hinsch and Ila Hutchins.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Vyrle, Bobbie; daughter-in-law, Carol Hinsch; and son-in-law, Jake Jacobson.
Funeral services for Russell will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Smith & Brown Funeral Home, Hicksville, with Pastor Vicky Coombs officiating. Visitation also will be Saturday from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery, Hicksville, with military honors.
