ANTWERP — Paul Duane Clark, 71, Antwerp, passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Ind.

Paul was born June 26, 1947, in Lima, Ohio, to the late Clayton and Ruby (Wilkins) Clark. The family resided near Spencerville, Ohio. He graduated from Spencerville High School in 1965 and went on to earn his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from Wright State University, Dayton.

On October 2, 2002, he married his best friend, Linda, who resides near Antwerp. His family was his greatest joy and included his daughters, Cristal Ann (Jamie) Moore of Grover Hill and Shelly Lynn (Fred) Kohart of Payne; sons, Samuel (Tandy) Elliott and Matthew (Tera) Elliott of Fort Wayne; 6 grandsons; 3 granddaughters; a great-granddaughter; brother, David (Tanya) Clark of Lima; and trusty companion and protector, Wilson.

He also was preceded in death by his first wife, Julie Ann Clark.

Paul enjoyed working and keeping busy. As a young man, he worked on the family farm and numerous part-time jobs. He worked his way through college as he prepared for a career in education. His first position was teaching at Jennings Elementary; then principal at Franklin Elementary in Delphos. In 1978, he came to Paulding County to be director of special education at the Paulding County superintendent’s office in Paulding. He then served there as business director and county superintendent. He retired in 2002, but continued to work part-time as director of the Alternative School, which he helped develop. His focus was always on improving the education and development of the school children and educators he served.

When he wasn’t with family or working, he enjoyed his hobbies: motorcycle racing, fishing in tournaments, tractor pulling and showing his antique show cars.

Paul loved the Lord and attended church as a young man accompanying the church organist, his mother, on the guitar. As an adult, he played in a gospel band. He attended the Grace Point Church of the Nazarene in Fort Wayne.
