Nancy Kunesh, 90, Defiance, passed away Sunday morning, June 30, 2019, at the Laurels of Defiance.
She was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, on February 22, 1929, the daughter of the late Floyd (Jake) and Pauline (Rethmel) Paxton. She was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church at Marysdale and the Altar Society. She was a 1947 graduate of Stryker High School. On November 5, 1949, she married Harold Kunesh. She loved to decorate cakes. She was a homemaker and had worked at Ken’s Furniture. Nancy was a very good mother and grandmother. She loved to play games with her grandchildren.
She is survived by Harold, her husband of 69 years; daughters, Laura Buchholz of Defiance and Jane (John) Meyer of Toledo; sons, Mark (Pam) Kunesh of Defiance and Bruce Kunesh of Defiance; daughter-in-law, Tami Kunesh of Archbold; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Matthew, Stephen, and a son, Joseph, who died in infancy; son-in-law, Ken Buchholz; and her parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Isidore Catholic Church at Marysdale, at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, with Father Jacob Gordon officiating. Visitation is today from 3-7 p.m. at Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home, 1753 S. Clinton St., Defiance, and Wednesday from 10-11 a.m. at St. Isidore Catholic Church at Marysdale. There will be a Rosary service 6:30 p.m. today at Lawson-Roessner. Burial will be in Marysdale Cemetery.
