NAPOLEON — Melvin Fredrick Lane, 85, Napoleon, Ohio, passed away May 15, 2019.

He was born on September 15, 1933, in Holgate, Ohio, to Perry and Clara (Berkes) Lane. Melvin proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was a member of the American Legion and AMVETS and a social member at the VFW. He was a kindhearted, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who had a great sense of humor. Melvin enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing and hunting deer and other small game. He was an avid card player and enjoyed going to the Moose Lodge, Eagles and senior center.

Melvin is survived by his wife, Miriam; daughter, Susan (Tom) Lane-Baldwin; grandchildren, Nathaniel and Audrey Lane; Jennifer Grubaugh and Blake Baldwin; great-grandchildren, Gavin, Tristan, Connor, Hannah and Ian; and sister, Viola Curdes. In addition to his parents, Melvin was preceded in death by his sons, Melvin Jr. and Thomas; and brothers, Ervin, Kenneth and Bob.

Friends and family will be received at the Rodenberger-Gray Funeral Home, Napoleon, on Monday, May 20, 2019, from 6-8 p.m. and will continue on Tuesday, May 21, 2019, beginning at 9 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Forest Cemetery with military honors.
