FORT WAYNE — James R. “Jimmy” Black Sr., 56, Fort Wayne, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at the St. Joseph Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
He was born December 9, 1962, to Michael and Mabel (Baker) Black in Defiance. Jimmy was a 1984 graduate of Fairview High School. On August 3, 1991, he married Kathie Lockhart, who survives in Mark Center, Ohio.
In addition to his wife, Jimmy is survived by his son, James Jr. of Mark Center, Ohio; and daughter, Kathryn Black of Fort Wayne, Indiana. He will also be dearly missed by his four grandchildren, Amaziah, Azariah, Armoni, and Adaliah. Other survivors include his two brothers, Mike Black of Defiance and Wayne (Mary) Black of McClure, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Jimmy was a Detroit Lions fan. He enjoyed playing pool, fishing and watching sports. His favorite pastime was time spent with his grandkids.
Visitation for Jimmy will be held Saturday, June 15, 2019, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Schaffer Funeral Home Inc., Defiance, Ohio. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m., officiated by Pastor Vincent Kroterfield. Burial will take place at Riverview Memory Gardens.
