BRYAN — A bicyclist was seriously injured Friday morning north of here after colliding with a minivan.
According to the Highway Patrol’s Defiance post, Zachary Fisher, 21, Montpelier, was reported to have been riding his bicycle southbound in the center of County Road 13, north of County Road H in Williams County’s Jefferson Township, when he was struck around 8:03 a.m. by a southbound Dodge Journey driven by Joseph Klender, 38, Bryan.
Fisher was transported from the scene to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo, where was listed in critical condition. Fisher was not wearing a helmet at the time of the traffic crash, according to the Patrol.
Klender was wearing his safety belt, and was not injured in the crash.
No citations had been issued as of Sunday, and the crash remains under investigation.
The patrol was assisted at the crash scene by the Williams County Sheriff’s Office, Montpelier Police Department, Bryan Fire and Rescue and Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center Life Flight.
