WAUSEON — Fulton County voters approved every levy request on the ballot, as well as a Sunday liquor request, when they went to the polls on Tuesday.

A countywide levy request for a 1.6-mill, five-year renewal levy with a 0.1-mill increase, for a total of 1.7 mills, for senior citizen services and facilities won by more than a 2-1 margin. The total 1.7-mill levy will generate $1,556,405 annually.

Franklin township levies and contested mayoral races in Archbold and Swanton were among the issues Fulton County voters were asked to decide in Tuesday’s general election.

Clinton Township voters approved a five-year 1.54-mill levy for fire protection services. The new levy will generate an estimated $293,584 annually. The Wauseon Fire Department would collect 60% of the new levy’s revenue, with the remainder distributed into the Clinton Township fire account, to complement the current 0.8-mill and 0.3-mill fire and emergency levies. Those remain in effect until 2020, and have generated $188,831 so far this year.

Franklin Township voters overwhelmingly approved the new levy for fire and EMS services, 1.1 mills for five years.

The villages of Swanton and Archbold had contested mayoral races. In Swanton, Neil Toeppe beat out incumbent Ann Roth for the seat.

In Archbold, local business owner and former Archbold Village Councilman Brad Grim ousted Mayor Jeff Fryman, now wrapping up his first term.

Mayoral candidates in Wauseon, Delta, Fayette, Lyons and Metamora all ran unopposed.

Five Archbold residents competed for three open spots on the Archbold Village Council. Incumbents Kevin Eicher and Kevin Morton will be joined by newcomer Karla Ball, who received the most votes of all five. Monica Miller and Michael Dijak were the other two candidates.

In the county’s most hotly contested race, incumbent Brent King and newcomer Scott Rupp claimed the two seats on the Pettisville Local Board of Education. Incumbent Daniel Bruner, Eric Rychener and Pam Skates rounded out the list of candidates.

Tuesday’s results won’t be certified until Fulton County’s board of election meets at 8:30 a.m. Nov. 20.

Turnout among Fulton County’s 28,317 registered voters was figured at 26%.
