EDGERTON — The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a structure fire that damaged a home here Monday afternoon.
The Edgerton Volunteer Fire Department responded to a report of a fire at 247 E. Lynn St., a single-family home, at 2:26 p.m., said Edgerton Fire Chief Scott Blue.
Blue said a 3-year-old boy and his grandfather were in the home when the fire broke out, but exited safely after the man heard a smoke detector. No injuries were reported.
Blue said fire crews were able to contain the blaze to the room where it started and cleared the scene at 4:36 p.m., but added state investigators were expected to arrive today to aid in determining what caused the fire. Foul play is not suspected, Blue said.
The website of the Williams County Auditor’s Office lists the property as being owned by Kim and Barbara Carlson.
The Bryan and Butler City (Indiana) fire departments also responded.
