BRYAN — A poker run benefit is set to raise funds for a 4-year-old Bryan girl who will require heart surgery.
Bexley Pardee’s family said the operation is needed to repair atrial and ventricular septal defects — two holes in the little girl’s heart. Though the holes often close on their own during early childhood, Pardee’s are large and did not.
She is the daughter of Justin and Ashley Pardee.
The poker run will kick off Saturday at the East Annex Building, 1425 W. High St., Bryan. Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. The cost is $20 per driver and $5 per passenger. Cars are welcome.
Kickstands will go up at noon, and the winning poker hand will pay $100.
A hog-roast meal will follow for a free-will donation. There will be a 50/50 raffle and silent auction. Items will be open for bidding until the event’s conclusion.
The benefit will be held rain or shine. For more information, contact Jeff Carr at 419-576-6205 or visit facebook.com/BexleyBenefit. All proceeds will help the family pay medical expenses not covered by insurance.
Also, a free-will donation meal to benefit Bexley is set for Friday from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., or while supplies last, at Northwestern Federal Credit Union, 234 N. Main St., Bryan. Each meal will include a pulled-pork sandwich, baked beans, chips, dessert and a water.
