HAVILAND — At its January meeting, the school board near here organized for 2023 and elected officers.
The Wayne Trace Local Schools Board of Education reelected Paul Baumle as president and Melanie Forrer as vice president. Other formalities, such as authorizing the superintendent and treasurer with the ability to run the district business were also passed.
In other news, the board:
• established the second Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. for regular school board meetings.
• approved substitute teacher pay rate at $90 per day.
• heard report from Tim Manz, curriculum coordinator about ongoing dyslexia training for teachers.
• approved academic calendar for 2023-24 school year.
• heard a report about Payne Elementary School’s water damage on Dec. 24 due to a power outage and extreme cold temperatures.
