Future at stake in next election

My opinion of President Barack Obama has changed considerably over the course of the last three years.

I honestly now believe he is a decent man, a Christian, who, like all those who have occupied the White House, wants as much as anything to be held in the highest esteem when history ranks presidents in years to come. Unfortunately, based on his performance to date, he will, quite simply, be ranked as the worst man to hold the office since Jimmy Carter.

If re-elected he could, by virtue of his narcissist complex and lack of real leadership, well hold the distinction of being the last man to serve as president of a fragile democracy run amuck, which if unchecked, will by virtue of its ever expanding socialist welfare programs, cease to exist when it ultimately consumes itself.

Appalled at animal picture

I live out of state but I check The Crescent-News every day to see what is going on in my home town.

I was appalled to find a picture on Aug. 16 of a dying animal pinned in front of a semi. Many probably shrugged it off as no big deal because it's "just an animal," but I have to say that the picture was printed in incredibly poor taste. If that is the standard that The Crescent-News wants to hold itself at they should be ashamed of themselves.

I don't know if they thought there was a Pulitzer at the end of the rainbow or what? Anything to sell papers I suppose.

Obama has targeted different groups

Martin Niemoller is credited with this statement: "First they (Nazis) came after the communists and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist. Then they came after the trade unionists and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came after the Jews and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came after me and there was no one left to speak out for me."

This scenario has been repeated throughout the history of mankind. When Hitler came to power, Germans had no idea how he would change their country (let alone his Holocaust against Jews)., When Castro came to power, few Cubans knew how far his communism would go. When Obama first came to power (advocating fundamental change), few Americans knew what changes he had in store for our country.

Obama has illustrated contempt for our Constitution, and few people are complaining about it. A federal judge issued an injunction against the continued implementation of Obamacare until the Supreme Court ruled on its constitutionality. Obama and his administration continued to implement it anyway and got away with it.

Another federal judge ruled that Obama's ban on drilling in the Gulf of Mexico was illegal, but Obama continued the ban anyway and got away with it. Obama and Democrats in Congress were willing simply to "deem" Obamacare to have passed because they were having so much trouble getting it through Congress. And no one in the media told us how unlawful/unethical that would have been.

The statement I quoted above could be altered to: "First Obama came after the bankers and I didn't speak out because they had it coming to them,. Then Obama came after the automobile companies and I didn't speak out because they had it coming to them. Then Obama came after health insurance companies and I didn't speak out because they had it coming to them. Then Obama came after 'the rich' and I didn't speak out because they had it coming to them. Then Obama came after small businessmen and I didn't speak out because they had it coming to them. Then Obama came after me and there was no one left to speak up for me."

If readers of this column are comfortable with the facts I have presented and are anxious to see who he goes after next, they are welcome to vote for Obama again. They should, though, ask themselves who will speak out when Obama comes after them.

But if readers are tired of our current "leaders" and the way they use class warfare to divide us, I beg them to vote for someone who knows that communism/socialism fails every time and everywhere it is tried because government eventually runs out of our money. I implore them to vote for Mitt Romney because he knows what it takes to make a business successful and will restore constitutional rule to the United States.
