A Defiance woman has died following a two-vehicle crash that occurred at 8:30 a.m. on Ohio 15 near Blosser Road in Defiance County’s Washington township.

Kaitlyn Knox, 22, Defiance, was pronounced dead while being treated at the Defiance Regional Medical Center. Knox was six months pregnant and doctors were able to deliver a baby girl who is listed in critical condition.

According to the Defiance post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Knox was northbound on Ohio 15 when she lost control of her vehicle and slid left of center striking a southbound vehicle being driven by Elizabeth Stockinger, 29, Bryan. Knox and Stockinger were transported by Delaware Township EMS to DRMC. Stockinger was treated and released.

Both vehicles sustained heavy damage. Assisting at the scene were Defiance County Sheriff’s Department, Delaware Township EMS, Ney-Washington Township Fire Department and Promedica air ambulance. The crash remains under investigation.

Thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved. And, may God watch over Baby Knox, and her doctors, as she struggles for her life.
