"Bloom," a forty minute film by Defiance resident Joe Graves, is coming to Defiance College on April 30th at 8:00pm.
"Bloom" is a story of two guys who are on a journey to find what they need in relationships. Mark is single, and loving it; Adam is recently single and looking. They think they know what they need, until they need a change.
What started as a regular 15-20 minute short film, ended up turning into a 40 minute feature. Sitting at a Defiance coffee house, "Bloom" was conceived by Andy Culbertson, Joe Graves, and Matt Mills. Culbertson went on to write the script as well as playing one of the main roles. Graves and Mills directed the piece, with Graves playing the other main role and Mills editing and writing some of the music.
The cast incorporated over seven main roles, a dozen or more extras, and a crew of another couple dozen. Using local talent and natural settings throughout Defiance, Fort Wayne, and Hicksville the team of filmmakers worked hard to get the film shot and edited by their April deadline.
Graves hopes this new romantic comedy is well received and looks forward to the Defiance premier on April 30th at Schomburg Auditorium on the Defiance College campus. Besides showing a small collection of some other films including "Drifter," "Too Far Along," and "Bloom and Die," Graves has arranged for some of the musicians who contributed to the soundtracks for the films to play the night of the premier. With a touch of drama and a whole bundle of laughs, "Bloom" is sure to delight audiences of all ages.
