Master Steven Franz, owner of Franz Karate in Bryan, Ohio has recieved an official commendation from the Ohio Senate in recognition of his achievements in martial arts which was issued during the 128th General Assembly of Ohio by both the president of the Ohio Senate, Senator Bill Harris and our district's own Senator Stephen Buehrer. The commendation was issued citing Master Franz as one of Ohio's finest athletes for "your accomplishments and leadership, both in and out of competition, are a justifiable source of pride and an outstanding reflection not only on you but also on your family and community."

The Ohio Senate also wrote on the official document that Master Franz has "combined talent and competitive spirit with the highest ideals of good sportsmanship to establish yourself as a truly exceptional athlete. With admirable dedication, you have worked diligently toward attaining ultimate proficiency in the martial arts. Your unwaivering commitment to excellence has earned you this prestigious distinction, and you are certainly deserving of high praise."

The letter and commendation from the Ohio Senate came as quite a surprise to Master Franz. "I never expected this and I have no idea how they found out about my induction into the International Budo Society," commented Franz. "It is an amazing feeling to know that even a small town guy like me did something right in their lifetime. Now if I can just help my students to achieve great things in their lives then my goals will be truly fullfilled."
