Hargitay, Meloni signed
for 'Law & Order: SVU'
NEW YORK (AP) -- Rest easy, fans of "Law & Order: SVU." Stars Mariska Hargitay and Chris Meloni have signed contracts for another season.
That was in some doubt, with fans of the show wondering whether the actors might be replaced after their two-year contracts expired. NBC renewed the drama, its most popular scripted series, without knowing for sure whether they would be back.
Christine Lahti will also be joining the show for the first four episodes of next season.
Kris Kristofferson to be
honored by BMI as music icon
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Kris Kristofferson will be honored by BMI as a music icon during the music licensing organization's country awards in November.
BMI announced the selection Tuesday morning. The group gives the honor to songwriters and artists who have had a "unique and indelible" influence on generations of music makers.
Kristofferson will be saluted in an all-star musical tribute in Nashville on Nov. 10.
'Ugly Betty' actress Ana Ortiz welcomes daughter
NEW YORK (AP) -- "Ugly Betty" actress Ana Ortiz and her husband, musician Noah Lebenzon, welcomed their first child, a girl, in New York on Saturday afternoon. Paloma Louise, weighed 7 pounds, 10 ounces.
The 38-year-old actress portrays Betty's sister, Hilda, on the popular ABC comedy. She's due to begin filming the fourth season next month.
Diane Keaton treated after bumping her head on set
NEW YORK (AP) -- Paramount Pictures says Diane Keaton is "in good health and spirits" after falling and bumping her head on the set of her latest film.
Keaton, 63, sustained the injury Monday in New York, where she was filming the comedy "Morning Glory," co-starring Harrison Ford and Rachel McAdams.
Jerry Lewis set to direct Broadway 'Nutty Professor'
NEW YORK (AP) -- Jerry Lewis -- Broadway musical director?
The legendary comedian will direct a stage version of "The Nutty Professor," the 1963 film he co-wrote and in which he starred as the nerdy title character.
The show is expected to land on Broadway during the 2010-2011 season.
The 83-year-old Lewis last appeared on Broadway in 1995 in a revival of "Damn Yankees."
Parker-Broderick first
photo with newborn twins
NEW YORK (AP) -- Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick are sharing the first photo of their twin daughters (see photo below).
The baby girls -- Marion Loretta Elwell Broderick and Tabitha Hodge Broderick -- were born last Monday at an Ohio hospital to a surrogate mother.
