ST. MARYS -- The Defiance High School volleyball team evened its season record at 3-3 while upping its Western Buckeye League mark to 2-1 with a 25-17, 25-18, 24-26, 25-21 win over St. Marys on Thursday.
"We definitely upped our level of play tonight," said DHS coach Brooke Buti. "Everything seemed to come together and every single player did their job and did it well.
"Our middles, Lindsey Tobias and Anna Schrag, were huge up front blocking and attacking for us. Diandra Lopez really stepped up in defense and in her attacking."
Deadlocked at 14-14 in the first game, DHS took command from that point on.
The Lady Bulldogs return to action on Saturday at the Toledo Central Catholic Invitational starting at 9 a.m.

Dogs top Cats: The Defiance boys golf team dominated Lima Bath on the road to pick up their fifth Western Buckeye League win of the season.
Corbin Stykemain and Jacob Moore of Defiance each fired a 39 to share medalist honors.
"This is a good solid win," stated Defiance head coach Rod Hersha. "The guys shot a really nice round, and we are starting to get very strong and consistent."
Defiance will face Celina at home on Monday.
