Friday, 3:58 p.m., on Holgate Avenue, north of Division Street, a sport utility vehicle driven by Jack Temple, 24, 523 N. Clinton St., struck two trees. Temple was cited for OVI and failure to control. He was taken to Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio, rural Stryker, pending his appearance in Defiance Municipal Court on Monday. Damage to the vehicle was heavy.
Friday, Kara Workman, 18, 538 Huddle Road, Napoleon, was charged with theft after an alleged incident at Super Kmart, 195 Stadium Drive.
Saturday, Sarah Hancock, 23, 826 Jefferson Ave., was charged with domestic violence after an alleged incident at her residence. She was taken to Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio, rural Stryker, pending her appearance in Defiance Municipal Court on Monday.
Williams Sheriff
Saturday, 8:20 a.m., on County Road 15, north of U.S. 6, a van driven by Joshua Balzer, 29, 15177 Williams County Road D, Bryan, struck a car driven by Jerry Fleming, 46, 09683 Mark St., Mark Center. Balzer was cited for improper backing. Damage to both vehicles was light.
Saturday, a toolbox and tools valued at $250 were reported stolen from a barn at 02851 County Road Q, Edon.

Defiance Common Pleas
Kellis Hatton Jr., 42, 926 1/2 Holgate Ave., pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated menacing, each a first-degree misdemeanor, according to Prosecutor Jeff Strausbaugh's office. He was given a suspended 12-month jail sentence and placed on unsupervised probation for two years. He was also ordered to have no contact with two persons.
Jesse Castillo, 28, 1029 Jackson Ave., pleaded guilty to three counts of trafficking in marijuana, each a fourth-degree felony. A pre-sentence investigation was ordered and the defendant's personal-recognizance bond was continued. Sentencing was set for July 31.
Angela Eblin, 33, Antwerp, pleaded guilty to two counts of non-support of dependents, each a fifth-degree felony. A pre-sentence investigation was ordered and her personal-recognizance bond was continued. Sentencing was set for Aug. 15.
David Esparza, Sr., 59, 2127 Baltimore Road, pleaded no contest to tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony, and was found guilty. A pre-sentence investigation was ordered and his $250,000 cash bond with a 10 percent allowance provision was modified to a personal-recognizance bond. The case was scheduled for sentencing.
Julie Zipfel, 28, 630 Riverside Ave., pleaded guilty to five counts of forgery, each a fifth-degree felony. A pre-sentence investigation was ordered and her personal-recognizance bond was continued. Sentencing was set for July 31.
Rachel Castillo, 31, 1029 S. Jackson Ave., pleaded not guilty to five counts of theft and five counts of forgery, each a fifth-degree felony. A pretrial hearing was scheduled for July 7 and she was given a personal-recognizance bond.
Louise Hatton, 39, 704 Summit St., pleaded guilty to burglary, a third-degree felony, and failure to appear, a fourth-degree felony, according to Prosecutor Jeff Strausbaugh's office. She was given a prison term of four years and five months. Hatton admitted that she entered a Defiance apartment without the owner's permission and failed to appear for a pretrial hearing on the burglary case after having been released on a personal-recognizance bond.
Anthony Hughes, 34, 211 E. Broadway Ave., pleaded no contest plea to assault, a first-degree misdemeanor, and was found guilty. He was ordered to serve a 180-day jail sentence with credit for time served, given a suspended $1,000 fine and placed on unsupervised probation for two years. Hughes was convicted of striking his live-in girlfriend after the charge was reduced from domestic violence.
Michael Krupeany, 25, Hicksville, appeared for sentencing on charges of breaking and entering and theft, each a fifth-degree felony. He was placed on community control for four years and ordered to make $700 restitution to the victim. Krupeany admitted that he stole a four-wheeler from a barn.
Nick Laubenstein, 51, 726 Indian Bridge Lane, appeared for sentencing on three counts of possession of crack cocaine, fourth- and fifth-degree felonies. He was placed on community control for three years, given 30 days in CCNO and ordered to forfeit a 1999 Hornet travel trailer, a 2002 GMC truck and a 1999 Jeep Cherokee.
Roland Mansfield II, 39, 14842 Fullmer Road, appeared for sentencing on charges of assault, a fourth-degree felony, and domestic violence, a first-degree misdemeanor. He was placed on community control for three years and ordered to serve 45 days at CCNO with work release if he's employed. Mansfield was convicted of striking his father and assaulting sheriff's deputies during his arrest.
Hilda Velasquez, 29, Fort Wayne, Ind., appeared for sentencing on a charge of possession of crack cocaine, a fourth-degree felony, and was placed on community control for three years.
Andrew Wolfrum, 47, 310 Auglaize St., pleaded no contest to possession of cocaine and aggravated possession of drugs (morphine), each a fifth-degree felony, and was found guilty. He was placed on community control for three years.
Elizabeth Aguilera, 23, 1205 Ottawa Ave., pleaded no contest to passing bad checks, a fifth-degree felony, and was found guilty. A pre-sentence investigation was ordered and her personal-recognizance bond was continued. Sentencing was scheduled for July 29.
Richard Castillo Jr., 18, 26640 Shindler Road, pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine, a fourth-degree felony; carrying a concealed weapon, a fourth-degree felony; and failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer, a first-degree misdemeanor. A pre-sentence investigation was ordered and $100,000 cash bond with a 10 percent allowance provision was continued. Sentencing was scheduled for July 29.
Ricky Grimes, 52, West Unity, pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine, a fifth-degree felony. A pre-sentence investigation was ordered and his personal-recognizance bond was continued. Sentencing was set for July 28.
Kala Wells, 21, Hicksville, pleaded guilty to endangering children, a third-degree felony. A pre-sentence investigation was ordered and her personal-recognizance bond was continued. Sentencing was set for Aug. 20.
James Fisher, 66, 21513 Parkview Drive, had a charge of DUI, a fourth-degree felony, dismissed.
Williams Common Pleas
Tabatha Fidler, 37, Montpelier, pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual battery, each a third-degree felony. Sentencing has been scheduled for July 14. One count involves conduct which occurred in June 2007 when Fidler was a teacher with the Gorham-Fayette school district. The second charge involves conduct which occurred in April and May 2004 while Fidler was a teacher with the North Central school system.
Brandon Seigel, 21, Edwardsburg, Mich., pleaded guilty to robbery, a second-degree felony. Sentencing was scheduled for July 7. The charges stem from the attempted robbery of the Blakeslee branch of the Edon State Bank on April 14.
Michael Robinson, 29, Stryker, was sentenced to 30 months in prison for breaking and entering, receiving stolen property and possessing criminal tools, all fifth-degree felonies.
Paul Neal, 53, Edgerton, pleaded guilty to trafficking in marijuana, a fifth-degree felony. Sentencing was scheduled for July 7.
Jacquelyn Prater, 47, Bryan, pleaded guilty to theft, a fourth-degree felony. Sentencing was scheduled for July 14.
Erin Fuller, 22, Bryan, was sentenced to 10 months in prison for three counts of trafficking in marijuana, all fifth-degree felonies.
Jade Herzog, 32, Defiance, was sentenced to three years of community control for non-support of dependents, a fifth-degree felony.
Brandon John, 19, West Unity, was sentenced to three years of community control for attempted burglary, a third-degree felony.
Pascal Mapati, 29, Edgerton, was sentenced to three years of community control for burglary, a fourth-degree felony.
Robert Loyd Jr., 30, Bryan, was sentenced to 120 days plus an additional 15 months of prison for operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs of abuse, a fourth-degree felony. He was also ordered to pay an $800 fine.
David Mercer, 52, Montpelier, pleaded guilty to three counts of trafficking in marijuana, all fifth-degree felonies. Sentencing was scheduled for July 14.
Krystal Oehler, 26, Stryker, pleaded guilty to having weapons while under disability, a third-degree felony. Sentencing was scheduled for July 7.

In Thursday's edition of The Crescent-News, the wrong hospital admission date was given for Linda Brecht of Continental. She was admitted to Defiance Regional Medical Center on June 9. She was discharged from the hospital on June 12, and was transferred to Brookview Healthcare Center, Defiance.
