A pair of fishing derbies will be held this month at Boy Scout Camp Lakota in Defiance.
The first is a kids fishing derby slated for 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Saturday The other is a he and me Girl Scout fishing derby set for Saturday, May 31 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m.
Camp Lakota is located off Ginter Road, which is off of Ohio 66 south.
This Saturday's event is for youths 16 years old and younger. Participants will be grouped by age. Prizes will be awarded in each age group for largest fish (non-bass), total number of fish and the largest bass. All bass must be returned to the lake.
Bait is available at no charge, but the supply will be limited. Rods and reels also are available, but it is suggested participants bring their own equipment.
Hot dogs and drinks will be provided after the event.

At the Girl Scout event, scouts must be accompanied by a male 18 or older. The derby will be held rain or shine.

Anglers should bring fishing equipment. A drink, snack, patch and live bait will be provided.
