Gerald "Jerry" C. Weber, 82, Defiance, died at 1:03 a.m. Monday, May 5, 2008, in Defiance Area In-Patient Hospice Center after an extended illness.
He was born Sept. 11, 1925, in Defiance, the son of Frank and Helen (Goller) Weber. In 1952, he married Mary Blue, who survives. He was a serviceman for Maumee Valley Vending, retiring in 1991, and a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War, and a member of VFW Post 3360.
Also surviving are six sons, Mike, Mark (Diane), Joe (Lynn) and Dan (Rhonda) of Defiance, Jim (Carol) of Alvordton and Matt, Bryan; six daughters, Cathy, Jane (Bill) Carpenter, Peggy (John Jr.) Ferland, Ruth Beatty and Ann (Larry) Hartzell of Defiance and Gina (David) Gabel, Mark Center; seven brothers, Don of Michigan, Norb (Mary) of Palo Alto, Ill., Fran (Alice) of Ayersville, Bill (Sally) of Defiance, Chris (Ann) of Elkhart, Ind., Roger (Ann) of Maumee and Gene (Marilyn), Findlay; and 34 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were a sister, Marge Steingass; and a grandchild.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday in St. Mary Catholic Church with Deacon Jeff Mayer officiating. There is no visitation. Handling arrangements is Mast-Mock-Hoffman-Hanenkrath-Clevenger-Schaffer Funeral Home.
