BRYAN -- The North Western Electric Trust board of directors recently awarded $8,700 to nine community groups and three individuals.
North Western Electric Cooperative members participate in Operation Round-Up, which makes these funds available for local charitable purposes.
The recipients are:
North Central Local Schools was awarded $1,000 to assist in the Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Project.
Williams County Senior Center received $500 to assist with the roof renovation at the Montpelier Senior Center building.
Village of Stryker park department received $500 for installation of two parking lots for the Knights Landing project.
Women and Family Services received $500 for the Rape Crisis Center.
Defiance County 4-H council received $1,500 to improve the current youth exhibit area at the fairgrounds.
Edon High School was awarded $1,100 to assist with a group trip to Ecuador.
Defiance County Historical Society received $500 to assist with repairs for the school, church and post office located at Auglaize Village.
Trail Blazer 4-H Club received $1,500 for barn roof repairs.
Daisy Girl Scouts, Troop 1274, was awarded $1,000 for Camp Libby registration and transportation fees.
Three North Central students received $600 to assist with the cost for the Junior National Young Leaders Conference.
The North Western Electric Trust is funded through contributions cooperative members make to the Operation Round-Up program each month.
Members have their monthly bills voluntarily "rounded up" to the next dollar.
Those funds are then placed into the Trust to be awarded to local charitable agencies and individuals in need.
Applications are currently being accepted for the next round of awards.
