Neighbor of the Year awarded to Williams County resident

April 18, 2008

MONTEPLIER -- A Williams County resident was recognized as Neighbor of the Year at the 2008 Ohio Livestock Coalition annual meeting held April 8.

Award recipient Gene Humbarger of Montpelier was presented with a plaque and proclamation of gratitude from Governor Ted Strickland.

In addition, he received a $250 cash donation to his favorite local charity, Compassion Medical Clinic, courtesy of the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation.

Being a good neighbor means being responsible, courteous, and respectful of others. A good neighbor is considerate of private property and the need for farmers to safeguard their business that helps preserve the rural landscape that everyone enjoys.

Humbarger exemplified these characteristics earning him the recognition of Neighbor of the year.

The award program was created by the OLC and the OFBF to recognize livestock producers and rural residents who work hard to build bridges between neighbors in Ohio's countryside.
