Ashley Brandon and Kailea Holbrook combined on a one-hitter as the Lady Bulldogs of Defiance opened their season with a 10-0 victory over Liberty Center in five innings at Defiance.
"I thought for our first game we played very well," stated Bulldogs head coach Krista Ordway. "I liked to see are bats come alive right at the beginning."
Brandon earned the win for the Defiance softballers, throwing two innings allowing no runs and one hit while striking out three. Holbrook went three innings and allowed no hits while striking out two.
Katelyn Steffel lead the Bulldogs (1-0) at the plate with a home run.
"I thought Ashley Brandon and Kailea Holbrook did a great job," said Ordway. "I hope we continue to play defense and hit the rest of the week."
Arika Hoffman paced the Tigers (0-1) with a double.
Defiance is back in action today at Napoleon.
