SHERWOOD - This one was what postseason football is all about.
After leading by as much as 28-6 in the second quarter, the Tinora Rams relied on a 22-yard field goal by junior Ethan McKenney as the final three seconds of the game expired to pull out a thrilling 45-42 victory over Fairview in the opening round of the D-V, region 18 playoffs Friday at "The Reservation".
Tinora rolled up 315 yards on the ground and freshman quarterback Landon Drewes went 7-of-19 through the air for 142 yards and a touchdown with no interceptions. Corey Herendeen led the Rams with 188 yards on 21 carries and a pair of touchdowns while Blake Foor added 107 yards on 22 carries for two touchdowns.
The Apaches were led by Ryan Radcliff, who threw for 526 yards on 32-of-49 passing with six touchdowns. Ben Wonderly was one of three Fairview receivers in triple-digits with 180 yards on 13 receptions and two touchdowns. John Elchinger had 11 catches for 148 yards and a pair of touchdowns while Zeke Keesbury added 143 yards on 5 catches for one touchdown.
Tinora will now face Liberty-Benton, who defeated Archbold 45-13, Friday at site to be announced.
