NEY -- Richard James Dow, 75, Ney, Ohio, died Thursday, November 5, 2009, in Bryan Care and Rehabilitation Center, Bryan. He was born August 15, 1934, in Hudson, Mich., the son of Richard and Hazel (Collins) Dow. On April 5, 1954, he married Juanita Joyce Brown, who survives. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran where he served two tours of duty in the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was also a member of Defiance Moose, Defiance Eagles and Bryan Eagles. He retired in 1996 as a laborer from Edgerton Forge. Also surviving are two sons, Jim Dow and John Dow of Bryan, Ohio; a daughter, Julie (Tom) Dow-Perkins, Ney, Ohio; a sister, Nadine (Robert) Hopkins, Hillsdale, Mich.; and two grandchildren, Jennifer Dow of Ney and Adam Stockman, Ney. Preceding him in death were his parents. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, November 9, 2009, in Mast-Mock-Hoffman-Hanenkrath-Clevenger-Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, with Rev. Dennis Jones officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Memory Gardens, Defiance, with graveside military rites by VFW Post 3360. Visitation is from 2-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
