GROSSE POINTE WOODS, Mich. -- Word was received of the June 13, 2008, death of Barbara Joyce (Heizmann) Bochenek, 38, Grosse Pointe Woods, who died at Karmanos Cancer Center, Harper Hospital, Detroit, Mich.

She was born May 14, 1970, in Detroit, Mich., the daughter of Helmuth (Hank) and Lucille Heizmann. She married to former Defiance resident Dr. John Bochenek, who survives. She received a master's degree from Wayne State University, Detroit.

Also surviving are a son, Cameron Dodd; five sisters, Lynn (Howard) Johnson, Pam Nelle, Catherine (Brad) Delaere, Nicole (Jerry) Ingram and Danielle Heizmann.

Preceding her in death were her parents.

Services were held at Christ Church Grosse Pointe, Grosse Pointe Farms, with Rev. Bradford Whitaker officiating. Handling arrangements was A. H. Peters Funeral Home, Grosse Pointe Woods.

Preferred memorials are to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or National Marrow Foundation.
