CECIL -- Martha G. Theis, 75, Cecil, died Sunday, June 29, 2008, at her home. She was born Dec. 2, 1932, in Napoleon, the daughter of John and Laura (McMichael) Babcock. In 1950, she married Jack Lassiter, who died in 1960. In 1962, she married Arnold Theis Sr., who died in 2001. She was a homemaker. Surviving are three sons, John Lassiter of Paulding, Jack (Lori) Lassiter Jr. of Melrose and Arnold Theis Jr., Cecil; four daughters, Deborah (Edward) Thrasher and Kitty (Harold) Adkins of Melrose, Cynthia (Charles) AuFrance of Paulding and Brenda Stahl, Grover Hill; a stepson, Jack (Bonnie) Lassiter, San Bernardino, Calif.; four brothers, Robert, Herbert and Henry (Betty) Babcock of Napoleon and Albert (Bonnie) Babcock, Archbold; three sisters, Laura Kochel of Junction, Lorna Casarez of Antigo, Wis., and Henrietta Lassiter, Excel, Ala.; and 17 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Also preceding her in death were her parents; four brothers, Don, John Jr., George and Harold Babcock; five sisters, Ethel Wesley, Mary Mauws, Viola Hernandez, Luella Peterson and Leona Babcock, in infancy; a granddaughter and a great-grandson. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding, with Dr. John McKay officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Defiance. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and after 10 a.m. Thursday. Preferred memorials are to Defiance Area Visiting Nurses & Hospice or a charity of the donor's choice. Comments
