NAPOLEON -- Workers at Campbell Soup Supply Co. of Napoleon have ratified a new three-year agreement covering nearly 1,100 workers. The workers are represented by United Food and Commercial Workers Union (UFCW) Local 75. The new agreement provides for nearly 6 percent in wage increases over the next three years and secures affordable health care with benefit improvements over the life of the contract, the UFCW reported. "A positive contract like this is good for workers at Campbell's, and good for our community. In this economic climate, workers continue to struggle just to hold on to what they have, so for us to make improvements like this is a real testament to the power of collective bargaining and to the solidarity of the members at Campbell's," said UFCW Local 75 secretary-treasurer Steve Culter. The current contract expires Feb. 7. UFCW members in Napoleon make the company's soup, sauces, vegetable and fruit juices, canned foods products, and products for its food service segment. Napoleon is one of the largest food processing plants in the Campbell Soup Co. Comments
