COLUMBUS GROVE -- The Columbus Grove Police Department has released the names of the two local women who died Saturday morning in a fire that occurred in a trailer at 202 N. Main St.

Barbara Krontz, 24, and Diane Sherman, 64, were killed in the fire, Police Chief Charles Huff said in a press release.

Three other residents of the structure, Daniel Sherman, 24, and Randy and Tammy Brenneman, escaped the blaze. Sherman was transported to St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, where he was treated and released.

The Ohio fire marshal's office is investigating the fire, which was reported at 2 a.m.

When the Columbus Grove Fire Department arrived at the scene, flames were shooting out the windows on the south side of the structure, Huff reported.

The bodies of Krontz and Sherman were found after the fire was controlled. A dog was also killed in the fire.

Columbus Grove's police and fire departments and the Putnam County coroner's office are also investigating the incident.
