GLANDORF -- A Putnam County woman was killed Wednesday after the vehicle she was driving struck a school bus, according to the Lima post of the Ohio Highway Patrol.

Mary Schnipke, 69, Kalida, was pronounced dead at the scene by Putnam County Coroner Dr. Anna Horstman following the crash, which occurred at 10:56 a.m. on U.S. 224, west of Glandorf.

Troopers report that a vehicle driven by Schnipke was traveling east on U.S. 224, went left of center and struck a westbound Head Start school bus driven by Marlene McKean, 51, Leipsic.

The vehicles collided head on. Safety belts were in use and alcohol was not a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.

No students were on the bus at the time of the crash and McKean suffered no apparent injuries.
