COLUMBUS GROVE -- A Pandora man died Tuesday after the bicycle he was riding was struck by a car on Ohio 12.
Orren Watkins, 73, was pronounced dead by the Putnam County coroner at St. Rita's Ambulatory Care Center in Ottawa following the accident, according to the Lima post of the Ohio Highway Patrol.
Troopers reported that Watkins was riding his bicycle along Ohio 12 at 9:55 a.m. when he was struck by an eastbound car driven by Michael Dunlap, 25, Columbus Grove.
Troopers stated that Dunlap looked away from the roadway momentarily and his vehicle drifted across the white edge line, hitting Watkins' bicycle.
Watkins was wearing a helmet and Dunlap was wearing a safety belt, according to troopers, and alcohol was not a factor.
The crash remains under investigation.
