BRYAN -- Terry Krause, director of bands at Millcreek-West Unity Local Schools, has been selected as the new director of the Bryan City Band. Krause was appointed Wednesday by Mayor Doug Johnson to lead the 158-year-old band. He will replace John Hartman, 96, who served as director for the past 46 years. He has completed graduate coursework at Kent State University, University of Akron and University of Toledo. Krause, who plays percussion in the Bryan City Band, also performs in Fountain City Festival productions, Defiance College Community Band and Ohio University Alumni Band. He is currently serving in his 19th year as director of bands for the Millcreek-West Unity Local Schools. During his tenure, the Hilltop High School band has performed twice in Washington, D.C.; at the Dogwood Arts Festival Parade in Knoxville, Tenn.; on the Lincoln Center Plaza in New York City; twice in the Magic Music Parade at Disney World in Orlando, Fla.; and the St. Patrick's Day Parade in New York City. He is a member of the Ohio Music Educator's Association and the Music Educator's National Conference.
