"Clean gutters." If that's been on your to-do list for a while, here are some tips to folow. -- Wear gloves, which can protect you from bacteria left by bird droppings, and from cuts from torn metal. -- Clear off the roof first. This is like your mother's order to "dust first, then vacuum." -- Give notice. If you're going to go up on that roof, make sure someone knows you're there. -- Leave the Manolos in the closet. Wear rubber-soled shoes. -- Clear downspouts by turning the hose down them and turning up the water pressure. If water backs up, tap the sides of the downspouts; if the clog doesn't clear, take the downspouts off and run the hose the other way. Comments
