ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- Chris Carpenter picked up his second victory of the week in leading Daytona to a 3-0 win over the St. Lucie Mets on Saturday evenings.

The 2004 Bryan graduate threw one-hit shutout baseball in five innings on the mound. The big right-hander fanned a career-high nine while walking three in lowering his ERA at Daytona to 1.71.

Carpenter (2-1) has now fanned 30 in 21 innings at Daytona, allowing hitters to bat just .158.
