The LPGA-USGA Girls Golf of Defiance will be holding a fundraiser for its organization as well as for the Lara Punches Memorial Scholarship Fund on Tuesday, July 14 at Auglaize Golf Club. The event is an 18-hole scramble event with a shotgun start at 1 p.m.
Punches, who was one of three college freshmen who died as a result of an apartment fire in Fort Wayne in 2009, was a member of the LPGA-USGA GG in Defiance for four years.
The cost per golfer is $65, which includes golf, carts and dinner. The dinner will be held at 6 p.m at The Lantern Room of Charlie's Down Under. Interested individuals may attend the dinner ($12) without playing in the golfing event.
Prizes for the scramble event will be given for the first, second and third place teams.
Numerous fundraising efforts will be held that day, including a 50/50 drawing, a silent auction and a raffle.
Deadline to enter the tournament is July 7. Registration should be filled out and mailed with registration fees to: Martha Mallott, 332 Arleta Dr., Defiance, Ohio 43512.
