Playing a home game for the first time this season, the Napoleon River Bandits jumped out to a 9-0 lead after three innings and held on to beat Van Wert 9-8 on Monday at Defiance College. Stephen Leskow (Defiance) threw five innings of two-hit shutout baseball to get the victory for the Bandits. VW rallied with a seven-spot in the seventh but Trey Meyer (Tinora) managed to hold off the rally for a save. Quinn Nofziger (Pettisville), Lucas Willitzer (Tinora) and Austin Bower (Patrick Henry) each had a single and double to lead a 12-hit attack by Napoleon, which moved to 20-4 on the season. The River Bandits are back on the diamond today at 6 p.m. for a single game against the Fort Wayne Cubs at IPFW.
