MARK CENTER -- Six people -- including five teen-agers -- were hospitalized following a two-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon at Ohio 18 and Farmer-Mark Road.

According to the Defiance post of the Ohio Highway Patrol, vehicles driven by Robert Kinder, 38, 651 W. High St., Hicksville, and Jacob Laney, 17, 209 W. Maple St., Bryan, collided at 3:04 p.m.

Kinder and Laney were transported by air ambulance to Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne. Kinder was listed in "fair" condition while Laney was listed in "serious" condition this morning.

Two passengers in Laney's vehicle, Brennan Crist, 17, 10568 Williams County Road D, Bryan, and Loren Thompson, 18, Angola, Ind., were also transported by air ambulance to Parkview Hospital where Crist was listed in "critical" condition and Thompson was listed in "fair" condition this morning.

Two other passengers in Laney's vehicle, Joshua Mason, 17, 06756 Williams County Road E-75, Edgerton, and Jessica Miller, 16, 10735 Farmer-Mark Road, Mark Center, were transported by Sherwood EMS to Community Memorial Hospital, Hicksville, where their conditions were unavailable.

According to troopers, Laney was northbound on Farmer-Mark Road and failed to yield at the stop sign and collided with Kinder's truck, which was traveling west on Ohio 18. Both heavily damaged vehicles came to rest at the northwest corner of the intersection.

No charges had been filed as of this morning. The accident remains under investigation.

None of the five individuals in Laney's vehicle was wearing a safety belt, according to troopers.

Troopers allege alcohol or drugs is suspected to have been a factor in the crash.
