Slocum school demolition 2
Get the Flash Player to see this player. The demolition of the former Slocum Elementary School is underway this week. Here, a crew from L.J. Irving tears down the gymnasium on a rainy Monday afternoon. The project is expected to take three weeks, with crews then starting on the former Brickell Elementary School. Slocum, along with Spencer and Brickell elementary schools opened in 1941 and were built following the passage of a $246,500 bond issue approved by Defiance voters in July of 1940. Comments
