The Defiance High School volleyball team picked up its most impressive victory of the season on Tuesday, handing Archbold its second loss of the campaign with a 25-20, 25-21, 25-22 triumph at the Dawg Pound.
"This is an exciting win for us," said DHS first-year head coach Brooke Buti. "Archbold is a great team and our girls fought for every point. We made a lot less of our own mistakes on our side and served aggressively.
"Archbold has great hitters and our blockers did a nice job for us with our defense getting after everything they could get their hands on. The trio of Renee Riedel, Allie Greiwe and Aurora Lopez were solid on passing and defense which helped tremendously. This is great to take into our WBL match Thursday."
Lopez was 11-11 serve receive with 10 digs while Riedel was 22-23 serve receive with 21 digs and Greiwe 6-6 serve receive and eight digs for the Lady Bulldogs, now 6-4 on the season.
Stacy Wyse was 12-13 serving, 66-67 setting with 17 assists, 21-23 hitting and had 11 digs for the Lady Blue Streaks, which fell to 8-2 on the year.
Defiance faces Van Wert Thursday at home.
