WOODMORE -- The Apaches of Fairview won an epic battle of air superiority against ground attacks to defeat Woodmore, 83-52. The game is Ohio's highest-scoring game in 85 years and is the fourth-highest scoring game in the state's history, according to the Ohio High School Athletic Association. James Elchinger led the Fairview air assault with 625 passing yards and nine touchdown throws. Elchinger's 625 yards puts him in third place in the state record books behind former teammate Ryan Radcliff's 678 and 650 yard performances. However, Elchinger's nine touchdown passes ties him for first place in the state record books with Apache alumni Radcliff (2006) and Kirk Jesse (2005). "James did a nice job of reading what was going on," lauded Fairview mentor David Robinson. "He's worked hard to get this opportunity and he's one of those kids who believes in the program and what we want to do. We're thrilled for him." Ben Wonderly ran his way to 240 yards rushing and two touchdown. Max Nusser threw for 124 yards and a scoring pass for Woodmore, closely followed by Michael Fahle with 122 and two touchdown passes.
