BOISE, Idaho " Bryan product Chris Carpenter tossed 32,3 of scoreless relief innings to earn his first professional victory for the Boise Hawks (Rookie League, short season) on Wednesday against the Everett AquaSox. Carpenter, a third-round pick of the Chicago Cubs this year, inherited two Everett baserunners with one out when he entered the game in the fifth inning, but quickly extinguished the scoring chance by getting the final two outs of the frame. He went on to pitch three more relief innings and allowed just one hit while fanning three in the Hawks' 16-5 triumph. Carpenter now has a 1.69 ERA in two appearances with the Hawks. Comments
