WAUSEON -- Heavy rains fell across northwest Ohio overnight, resulting in the National Weather Service posting flash food warnings for Fulton and Williams counties this morning.

The heaviest rain in the six-county area fell in these two counties and the flash flood warning was set to expire at 9:30 a.m. today.

The NWS reports that heavy rainfall ended from west to east across northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio early this morning.

NWS radar indicated three to five inches of rain fell over much of this area, with more than six inches in northeast Fulton County since late Wednesday afternoon.

Runoff of this heavy rainfall resulted in some flooded roadways and creeks this morning.

The NWS reported motorists should not drive vehicles into areas where the water covers the roadway. The water depth may be too deep to allow vehicles to cross safely.

The Ohio Department of Transportation closed U.S. 20 at Fulton County Road 7 today due to high water. U.S. 20-A, east of Delta in Fulton County, was also closed but has since re-opened.

No road closures were reported in Williams County by ODOT or the county sheriff's office.

Toledo Edision reported close to 300 customers were without power across its service area due to the thunderstorms. Outages were reported in Defiance, Montpelier, Wauseon and Delta, and the utility hoped to have power restored by 12 p.m. today.
