Jems capture spotlight as champs winning four titlesMay 9, 2008
Joy's Jems Baton and Pom teams of Defiance competed recently at the WTA Ohio State Championship held in Napoleon. The team garnered four state titles, one third-place and two fifth-place wins and received six second-place and one third-place win in the open division. Winning the Juvenile Small Twirl Team Novice title were team members: Tessa Guiterrez, Defiance; Abbi Miller, Paulding; DeAnna Parker, Defiance; and Alisha Mason, Paulding. Winning the Senior Small Twirl Team Novice title were: Kaytie Mason, Defiance; Meagin Cavanaugh, Paulding; and Alyx Smith, Pettisville. Winning the Miniature Dance Twirl Small Novice title were: Jada Stumbo, Aexander Hulse and Teya Castillo, all of Defiance. Winning the Juvenile Show Corps title were: Margarita Basquez, Oakwood; and Mackenzie Lehman, Paulding. Also winning a state title was Alyx Smith in the Individual Dance Twirl (14-23).
