Dance-twirl teams win state title

A New Dimension dance-twirl team won the Ohio State Championship team title recently during the WTA event held at Napoleon High School. Team members are Emma Schafer (left), Dayna Potter (center), and Michala Ross.

Individuals who also competed won the Ohio State Championship overall title for their individual events. They are Brooke Weddington (left), Emma Schafer (center), and Trina Sanders.

Local dance/twirl team A New Dimension, won the Ohio State Championship in the junior division (ages 10-13) small dance/twirl division at the World Twirling Association Ohio State Competition held recently at Napoleon High School.

Members of the team include, Emma Schafer, Dayna Potter, and Michala Ross.

Individuals winning the Ohio State Championship titles include the following:

Brooke Weddington of Napoleon, won the senior (16-23) intermediate title. She placed first in fancy strut, military strut and solo twirl which placed her first overall.

Trina Sanders, Fairview, won the junior (14-15) intermediate title. She placed first in fancy strut, military strut and in solo twirl, placing her first overall.

Emma Schafer, Tinora, won the pre-teen (10-11) beginner title. She placed first in fancy strut and military strut and second in solo twirl, placing her first overall.

Michala Ross, Bryan, advance 12-13, placed first in military best appearing, military strut and fancy best appearing and second in fancy strut and solo twirl which placed her second overall.

Dayna Potter, Ayersville, beginner 12-13, placed second in military strut, third in fancy strut and third in solo twirl, placing her second overall.

Lauren Figley, Ayersville, beginner 8-9, placed second in fancy strut, and second in solo twirl.

Dori Robertson is the instructor of A New Dimension.

The next competition for the team as well as individuals will be the WTA Nationals slated June 26-29 at Holt High School in Holt, Mich.
