Firefighters from four departments battled a barn fire Monday afternoon that caused approximately $16,000 in damages. According to Ridgeville Township Fire Chief Dexter Benecke, the barn at 28743 Allen Road was engulfed in flames upon his arrival. "The owner, Tim Roberts, was burning trash behind the barn and it caught fire," said Benecke. The barn fire, which ignited at about 2:11 p.m., spread to two sheds. Also, some vinyl siding on the house melted, causing approximately $5,000 in damages, according to Benecke. Firefighters from Napoleon, Jewell and Tiffin Township departments assisted. Here, the homeowner's dog, Chance, served as the welcoming committee to the firefighters on the scene.
