State Patrol

Friday, 8:30 p.m., on Power Dam Road in Defiance County's Highland Township, a vehicle driven by Jose Maldonado Jr., 31, 13536 Fullmer Road, struck a deer. Damage to the vehicle was moderate.

Friday, 9:40 p.m., on Williams County Road K in Jefferson Township, a vehicle driven by Matthew Goebel, 35, Bryan, struck and killed a deer. Damage to the vehicle was moderate.

Defiance Police

Friday, 2:34 p.m., on South Clinton Street, near Kiser Road, a vehicle driven by Ramon Alvarez, 50, 1777 S. Clinton St., went off the left side of the roadway, struck a mailbox and an address post, then rolled over in the yard at 1761 S. Clinton St., after the driver allegedly fell asleep. He was taken by a friend to Mercy Hospital of Defiance where a condition update was unavailable. Ramon was cited for failure to control. Damage to the vehicle was heavy.

Friday, David Burow, 40, 720 Holgate Ave., was charged with an interference with custody warrant out of Defiance Municipal Court.

Friday, James Monroe, 23, 620 Perry St., was arrested on a bench warrant out of Defiance Municipal Court for failure to pay or appear. He was unable to post bond and taken to the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio, rural Stryker.

Friday, Matthew Alford, 18, 1230 Schultz St., was charged with public indecency after an alleged incident on Corwin Street.

Saturday, Thomas Yant Jr., 31, 1705 Durango Drive, was charged with OVI, speed and failure to drive on the right half of the roadway following a traffic stop on Petain Street.

Saturday, Stacey Hurst, 29, Oakwood, was charged with OVI and expired operator's license following a traffic stop on Jefferson Avenue.

Defiance

Fire -- Friday, 12:10 p.m., firefighters were called to Cashland, 1210 S. Clinton St., for a smoke odor investigation.

Fire -- Saturday, 3:51 p.m., firefighters were called to Bob Evans, 900 N. Clinton St., for a report of mulch and bushes on fire in front of the business. A fire had been extinguished by a manager. Firefighters wet the area down further to prevent rekindling.
