Christina Aguilera gives birth

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Christina Aguilera has given birth to a boy, the pop singer announced on her website Sunday.

"Christina Aguilera and Jordan Bratman are proud to announce the birth of their son Max Liron Bratman," the brief message said. "He is a beautiful, healthy baby boy."

The baby was born Saturday night and weighs 6 pounds, 2 ounces. Aguilera, 27, was "resting and doing well," according to the message on her website, http://www.christinaaguilera.com.

Aguilera and Bratman married in 2005.

Courtney Thorne-Smith gives birth

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Courtney Thorne-Smith has given birth to a baby boy, the actress' publicist said Sunday.

"The parents are thrilled, and the baby is healthy, well and beautiful," publicist Karen Samfilippo said.

Thorne-Smith, 40, delivered the baby -- her first -- at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Friday, Samfilippo said.

The father is Thorne-Smith's husband Roger Fishman, a media consultant. The couple named the boy Jacob Emerson Fishman.

Nicole Richie has daughter

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- "The Simple Life" just got more complicated for Nicole Richie: She's a first-time mom.

Richie, 26, gave birth Friday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center to a daughter named Harlow Winter Kate Madden, People magazine reported on its Web site.

The father is Richie's 28-year-old boyfriend, Joel Madden, of the rock group Good Charlotte.

"We are very blessed she's healthy and beautiful and so good already," Madden told People on Saturday. "We are very happy."

Calls to the couple's representative at Handprint Entertainment, Richie's publicist and the hospital were not immediately returned Saturday.

Richie, the socialite daughter of singer Lionel Richie, is perhaps best known for costarring with Paris Hilton in the reality show "The Simple Life."

Last year, she spent 82 minutes in jail after being convicted of driving under the influence of drugs. She was arrested in December 2006 after witnesses reported seeing her Mercedes-Benz SUV headed the wrong way on a freeway in Burbank.

Toni Collette gives birth to daughter

SYDNEY, Australia (AP) -- Toni Collette has given birth to her first child, a baby girl, Australian media reported Friday.

The Sydney-born actress and her husband, musician Dave Galafassi, welcomed Sage Florence Galafassi into the world Wednesday, a spokeswoman told the Australian Associated Press.

"Both mother and baby are very well and very happy," the spokeswoman was quoted as saying.

Collette, 35, was nominated for a best supporting-actress Oscar for her role in 1999's "The Sixth Sense." Her screen credits also include "Little Miss Sunshine," "The Night Listener" and "Muriel's Wedding."

She announced her pregnancy in July, saying she had recently been leaning toward motherhood roles.

"It is strange the last three films I've done I have been pregnant," Collette said at the time. "I'm just like, 'What is the universe trying to tell me?' But I think everything happens when it's meant to."

David Alan Grier's wife gives birth to 7-pound, 6-ounce girl

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- David Alan Grier is the father of a new baby girl, according to published reports.

The actor and comedian's wife Christine Y. Kim gave birth to the girl Thursday afternoon, People magazine reported. The baby was delivered at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, according to Usmagazine.com.

"We're very happy," Grier, 52, told the Web site.

Luisa Danbi Grier-Kim -- "Danbi" means "sweet rain" in Korean -- was 7 pounds, 6 ounces at birth, People magazine reported.

"She's amazing," Kim told People. "I'm feeling euphoric, and David is ecstatic. He's the perfect father."

Grier was a cast member on TV's "In Living Color" and has appeared in other programs and films. Kim is a curator at the Studio Museum in Harlem. The two wed in July.

A phone message left early Sunday for Grier's agent seeking comment was not immediately returned.
